TRIAL, MyRight, and ADI issued an appeal to the authorities

A press conference held on February 11, 2015, at which representatives of TRIAL, MyRight, and ADI issued an appeal to the authorities to accept and implement without delay all the recommendations received by the country during the Second Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review.

Fikret Zuko, the chair of the disabled persons’ organisations steering committee, which represents 65 organisations of persons with a wide range of disabilities, all of which participated in drafting the Universal Periodic Review Report, called on the authorities to accept the recommendations on the rights of persons with disabilities and to include disabled persons’ representatives as partners in implementing those recommendations.

Zuko called on the authorities to meet the obligations assumed on ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to ensure that individuals with disabilities enjoy real access to equal opportunities and can participate fully in society.
